Start out from Weber School on Rohret Road.
Note: We have a lot of history with this ride. In 2024, we skipped it, because of road construction. It also involves a bit of gravel, which is a pain for those of us with road bikes, but it's only a short distance.
This ride takes us one mile on Maier Road, a gravel road that is easily ridden some years, not so good other years. In 2019, we skipped the gravel, altered our route slightly, and stayed on hard surfaces. In 2020 and 2021, we did manage to ride the one mile of gravel, and we had a great night.
The full route is about 24 miles. If we skip the gravel, it's shorter. A lot will depend on the weather and how it affects the gravel.
So,
if gravel road conditions permit, we go west on Rohret to Maier Avenue SW, south to Highway 1 and then west for about a city block, left on Sharon Center Road to Sharon Center, west to Frytown, then north to Windham and then back to Weber School. Prepare to go up and down hills (a little over 821 feet worth). The scenery, however, is worth it. It's riders’ choice for dinner following the ride.
Ride Length: 24 miles (if we start out on Maier Road SW and go to Sharon Center). 821 feet of climb.
