Start at Hills Elementary School
Meet at Hills Elementary School, just east of the 4-way stop. We ride east out of Hills, then south and east toward Lone Tree. A very pleasurable ride—few hills, a couple of great vistas once we get south of Highway 22, and that nice wide paved shoulder the last four or five miles on a gentle downhill slope back to Hills. Dinner at Hwy 218 Bar and Grill in Hills. About 27 miles.

Penn Meadows Park (gazebo)
When we ride clockwise on the Sugar Bottom Loop, heading north and east out of North Liberty, the hills are not so tough. Or so it seems. It‘s a good ride for this point in our conditioning as we work our way toward RAGBRAI.

Now that the Herbert Hoover Highway has a paved shoulder most (but not all) of the way to West Branch, let‘s take a ride out to West Branch, go north on the Herbert Hoover Nature Trail to Oasis, and then return.

Herky Street
First left off Penn Street (F-28) west of I-380
The fabulous Oxford-Tiffin Loop. More than 800 feet of climb, so it‘s a decent workout with a lot of rollers as we head to Tiffin. We do this ride earlier in the year than we used to, because when we tried to do this in August or September, it just plain gets too dark.
